Description

A rare, traditional Romanian heirloom tomato originating from the Făgăraș region of Transylvania, central Romania. A mid-season variety known for its reliable growth and high productivity.

Produces large, flattened, oblate beefsteak tomatoes with pronounced pleated or ribbed shoulders, typically weighing  10–14 oz. The fruits display a distinctive deep red-pink to rosy-red color, sometimes accented by subtle, dark antique shading around the shoulders.

The flesh is dense, meaty, juicy, and tender, with a slightly grainy texture when broken. As its name suggests (dulce means “sweet” in Romanian), this variety is prized for its exceptionally sweet, rich flavor, balanced by a mild, refreshing tang. A wonderful choice for fresh slicing, salads, and sandwiches, especially for gardeners who appreciate traditional heirloom tomatoes with outstanding sweetness and old-fashioned flavor.
