Diener
Description
A classic American heirloom beefsteak tomato introduced in 1917 by plant breeder Richard Diener of Kentfield, California. Produces enormous, oblate, deep crimson-red fruits weighing 1 to 3 pounds, with an indented crown and subtle ribbing around the shoulders. The rich, complex, old-fashioned tomato flavor makes it an excellent choice for fresh slicing, canning, catsup, processing, and dehydrating. Noted for its reported resistance to blight, drought tolerance, and ability to resist cracking.
