An Italian heirloom brought to the U.S.around 1920 Indeterminate 12-18oz fruit elongated paste type.While named for its tendency to produce large, heart-shaped or double-fruiting tomatoes (with rare record specimens weighing over 3 pounds), most fruits typically grow 6 to 8 ounces and are uniquely elongated, often shaped like a banana pepper. Extremely meaty and dense with a very sparse seed cavity and high solids.Sweet, rich flavor that excels fresh or cooked down into sauces, salsas, and pastes, and freezes or cans very well.
